Parish Clerk Wanted – St Helen Without Parish Council
The Parish of St. Helen Without is looking for a new Parish Clerk to replace George Edmonds-Brown who, deservedly, is retiring after many years service within our community. George has been a valued advisor to the Parish Council and an excellent administrator.
The Parish covers Dry Sandford (including Sandleigh Road), Cothill, some of Gozzards Ford, Shippon village and Dalton Barracks.
The role of the Parish Clerk is to facilitate the work of the Councillors and to carry out decisions made by them, working closely with the Chairman of the Council. The Clerk prepares the agenda and takes the minutes at Parish Council meetings, deals with all correspondence, is the Council’s appointed Financial Officer, prepares an annual newsletter and deals with enquiries from the public. As Clerk you would be at the heart of local affairs.
The Council meets about every 6 weeks (9 meetings per year) on a Monday evening. The job is a home-based, part-time role of approx. 34 hours per month (flexible hours). The salary scale is from a minimum of £4,198 a year up to a maximum of £5,264 (23.7% of the LC1 Scale), plus expenses, depending on qualifications and experience. Good administrative, interpersonal and computer literacy skills are necessary. Suitable training will be provided if required.
